
Rajasthan is fantastic for its palaces, its tales of love, rivalry, and power, and the splendor of its palaces… It’s very different from the Pondicherry region. I’d even say it’s worlds apart. The colors of Rajasthan are painted on a grand scale on the walls of its major cities; they’re found in the decoration of its palaces, in ancient miniature paintings, and in the gemstones of its precious jewelry.
First of all, don’t go to Rajasthan without reading Timeri N. Murari’s novel *Taj*. It will transport you into the romantic story of Shah Jahan (the emperor who was madly in love with his wife Arjumand, for whom he built the Taj Mahal in Agra). You’ll then be ready to immerse yourself in this part of India marked by the reign of the Great Mughals, their power, and their extravagance.
Jodhpur, the Blue City. Originally, the Brahmin community painted their houses blue a sign of distinction and social status. blue also believed to reflect the sun’s rays and keep the houses cool.
I recommend the Raas Hotel in Jodhpur. It’s in a great location—right in the heart of the city—and its architecture, a blend of terracotta and blue absolutely stunning. I couldn’t resist taking a photo of my Paulita against that blue backdrop blue
In Udaipur, the City Palace is incredible… A succession of rooms, colors, paintings, mosaics, and stained-glass windows… Be prepared for a visual feast!
Take your time and go in the morning before the tourists arrive to enjoy all these wonders. 

In India, pink is the color of welcome. Jaipur, the Pink City. Believe it or not, in 1876 the Maharaja of Jaipur had the old city repainted pink as a sign of welcome during the visit of Prince Edward VII, the Prince of Wales, and this color has remained the city’s signature.
